We are a nearly 40 year old family-owned and operated jewelry store and coin shop.  We offer unique, high-quality, fashionable jewelry to fit every budget, all in a warm, friendly, and down-to-earth environment.

Since we opened our doors on September 2, 1980, we have remained a family owned and operated business committed to providing our customers with the highest level of quality, service and value. We pride ourselves in giving people a comfortable, non-pretentious and – most of all – fun place to design and purchase the jewelry of their dreams.

Buying a diamond can be a very intimidating and technical process. Our GIA-trained associates will be more than happy to spend time educating you on “the four C’s” so you can feel confident in the stone you choose.

Our History

During the metals boom of the late 1970’s, Dave Howell, a science teacher at Northampton Area High School, thought it was the ideal time for him to turn his lifelong passion – coins – into a business venture. With the blessing of his wife, Sandy, and only four cases showcasing his personal collection, Dave opened a small store front on Main Street in 1980. Once people learned of Dave’s easy going and honest manner, he quickly developed a following and continued to expand. His interest in jewelry came as an ancillary to the coin business, but soon became more of a focus for the store with the addition of his in-laws, Bill and Betty Kline in the mid 1980’s. Bill and Betty shared their love of jewelry along side their son-in-law for over 20 years at Northampton Coin and Jewelry’s new location on Center Street. Dave’s daughter Sarah became involved in 2003, toward the end of Bill’s tenure as General Manager.

Sarah and her father found great joy and success in running the business together for 8 years. With Dave’s passing from cancer in March of 2011, Sarah took over full ownership of her family’s business. She continues to operate it with Matthew Davenport and her amazing and dedicated staff, who all strive daily to carry on the high standards established by Dave over the past 30 years.
